Following the success of the 2014 National Gunner Dinner and the avalanche of enquiries with regards "When are you holding the next one" coupled with the results of the Survey which clearly identified that we the Gunner community want such quality events every 2 to 3 years, we have decided hold our next National Gunner Dinner on Saturday 27th May 2017.

Hereafter any reference to the "Regiments" is inclusive of the following units: School of Artillery, 1st Regiment, 4th Regiment, 8th/12th Regiment, 16th Air Land Regiment and the 20th Surveillance and Target Acquisition Regiment.

The 2017 National Gunner Dinner will again be held at The Event Centre in Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland. Consideration was given to a number of other locations however no other location offered: suitable facilities capable of catering for in excess of 1000 attendees with a restaurant quality meal; providing a number of furnished Ante-rooms for quiet discussions away from the main dinner group; providing a stage suitable for putting on a large live performance; close to 2 Regiments; close to the Royal Australian Artillery 1st Regiment Band  and finally close enough for the lead up to the event to be micro managed every step of the way by a local to ensure that the quality of the function is of the highest standard.  We set the bar high with the 2014 National Gunner Dinner, we now aim to raise that bar even higher!

The concept of the 2017 National Gunner Dinner will be to hold a Dinner dance.   That statement in itself is overly simplistic of what will be an 8 hour fun filled action packed event. See details below for a complete overview of the event.

Again we hope to bring together Gunners from all over Australia (and indeed the world), of all ranks, trades and service types and we also includes an open invitation to those from other Corps that have served in an Artillery unit, many of whom, continue to this day their association with the various Artillery Associations throughout Australia.   An invitation has also been extended to the Royal New Zealand Artillery Association for any of their members to attend.   You do not have to be a member of the Australian Artillery Association or any other Artillery association to participate in this event.   This invitation is also warmly extended to the wives/partners and families of attendees and their very close personal friends.

The aim of the event, on this occasion, will be to unashamedly raise monies for both the Regiments and the RAA Regimental Fund.   The biggest benefactor however will be, without any doubt, each and every attendee.   100% of the monies raised, after all costs are covered, will be donated back to the RAA Regimental Funds and the Regiments.   In addition to raising funds for the Regiments and the RAA Regimental Funds we also seek to make this a regular occasion conducted every 2 to 3 years the likes of which will become the envy of all other Corps.

For this event to be viable we will need a minimum attendance of 400 however we anticipate that the number of attendees will be around or greater than 600 making this truly an event not to be missed.

The Australian Artillery Association's 2017 National Gunner Dinner will commence at 4:20pm for 5:00pm at The Event Centre Caloundra and conclude at 12:00 midnight.   The event will be broken into 2 elements the first of which will be the semi formal dinner between 5:00pm and 8:00pm during which we will be entertained by the Royal Regiment of Australian Artillery 1st Regiment Band.  Following a 30 minute break a live band will provide the entertainment for the Dinner Dance element of the evening between 8:30pm and 11:00pm.   For those so inclined, the live band is more than amicable for individuals or small groups of people wishing to join them on stage to sing a song or accompany them with an instrument (bring your own instrument).

Below is a more detailed overview of the entire event including costs.

Due to significant demand, following the success of the 2014 National Gunner Dinner the Australian Artillery Association will hold a 2017 National Gunner Dinner on the 27th May 2017 at which we hope to attract no less than 600 attendees thereby cementing the necessity to hold such an event every 2 to 3 years clearly supported by both serving and non serving Artillerymen/women of all ranks, trades and service types.

To hold the 2017 National Gunner Dinner with attendance figures that surpass the 2014 National Gunner Dinner,  inclusive of all ranks and trades from all forms of service from all over Australia and abroad, inclusive of personnel from other Corps who have served in an Artillery unit.  An invitation will also be extended to the members of the Royal New Zealand Artillery Association making this truly an International Gunner Dinner.
